“Coaching wrestling goes beyond teaching techniques and strategies. It’s about shaping young athletes into well-rounded individuals, fostering discipline, resilience, and character both on and off the mat. With my years of experience, I’ve learned that true coaching involves guiding athletes through personal growth, helping them discover their potential, and instilling values that last far beyond their wrestling careers. By building strong relationships, setting high standards, and creating an environment of trust and accountability, we develop not just champions in sport, but champions in life.” -Coach Bonner
Head Coach

Coach Bonner brings a wealth of experience and passion to Manitou Springs High School, where he has taught and coached for over 12 years. With an impressive 29 years of coaching expertise in wrestling, he has become a cornerstone of the program.
Originally from Alaska, Coach Bonner made his way to Colorado to attend Adams State College (now Adams State University). There, he earned Bachelor’s degrees in Art and Sports and Exercise Management while also competing on the wrestling team. Outside of coaching, Coach Bonner enjoys embracing the great outdoors, with a love for camping and fishing, making the most of Colorado’s natural beauty.
A true mentor and leader, Coach Bonner is dedicated to developing both the athletic and personal growth of his wrestlers, inspiring them to reach their full potential on and off the mat.
